CEI Bookstore | Truth Publications, Inc. Announces Upcoming Move to New Downtown Athens Location
Longtime Athens bookstore and publishing company plans move to 410 W. Green Street in 2027
ATHENS, AL. — CEI Bookstore | Truth Publications, Inc. is excited to announce plans to relocate to a new location at 410 W. Green Street in downtown Athens, Alabama, in 2027.
The organization will move from its current home at 103 W. Washington Street, remaining in the heart of downtown Athens while gaining a location designed to better serve customers, churches, families, Bible students, and visitors for years to come.
Same mission. Same people. New home.
The new location will provide CEI Bookstore and Truth Publications with the right space and opportunity to improve the customer experience, expand product displays and selections, and continue developing the bookstore as a top destination for those seeking Bibles, Bible study materials, books, curriculum, teaching resources, and other faith-based products.
For decades, CEI Bookstore has served Christians and churches locally and throughout the United States through both the retail bookstore and truthbooks.com. While the physical location is changing, the purpose of the work remains the same.
The move also represents a continued commitment to downtown Athens. Rather than leaving the downtown area, CEI Bookstore will simply be moving across downtown—from Washington Street to Green Street in the newly dubbed “Five Points Downton Athens” area.
CEI Bookstore was previously forced to make a move following the tornado destruction to the previous 220 S. Marion Street location downtown in December 2024. While the Washington Street location has served as a wonderful temporary home, the organization has been planning to secure a permanent location since early 2025 that will serve both the bookstore’s needs and its customers for many years to come.
“We are so grateful for the many customers, churches, authors, teachers, families, and friends who have supported this work through the years,” said Lance Taylor, Director of Operations. “We see this move as an opportunity to build upon that history while preparing for the future. We’re excited about what the new location will allow us to do, and we look forward to welcoming everyone into this new chapter with us in 2027.”
Renovation and preparation of the Green Street property will take place in advance of the move. CEI Bookstore plans to share progress updates, behind-the-scenes looks at the new space, and additional details as the project moves forward.
The current bookstore at 103 W. Washington Street will continue serving customers during the transition. A specific closing date for the Washington Street location and opening date for the Green Street location will be announced at a later time. Customers are encouraged to follow CEI Bookstore | Truth Publications online for updates throughout the transition. NEW LOCATION (Artistic rendering) CEI Bookstore | Truth Publications, Inc.410 W.
