Messianic Prophecies

In John 5:39-40 Jesus was speaking to certain leaders of the Jews, and He told them, "You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; and you are unwilling to come to Me, that you may have life." This is the goal of this study - to search the Scriptures to find their witness concerning the Lord Jesus Christ, because it is only in Him and through Him that we can find eternal life. When Jesus made the aforementioned statement, He was referring to the Old Testament scriptures, for they are alive with specific prophecies and a host of references concerning Him Who was to come - Jesus the Messiah.
This is a study of Messianic Prophecy. It will not be exhaustive, for it is conservatively estimated that there are over 300 references to the Christ in the Old Testament, all of which are fulfilled in Jesus. We will focus our attention on fifty-six major prophecies. However, several others will be mentioned as the study progresses.
