Obituary ROBERT EDWARD WALDRONSeptember 19 1941 - March 29 2024 The earthly journey for Bob Waldron ended in the early evening of March 29, 2024, at his home in Ridge Manor Florida. Although his last several years had been under the care of others, he continued to live all of his days in the faithful service of his Redeemer. Robert Edward Waldron was born in Waycross Georgia on September 19, 1941, to Randal E and Carrie B (Dasher) Waldron. He attended the Woodward-Godwin School and graduated from Ware County High School and carried many fond lifelong memories of the people and his boyhood explorations in the great Okefenokee Swamp. Bob became a child of God early in his life and made the decision to devote his life as a minister of the Gospel. He attended Florida Christian College (now Florida College) in Temple Terrace and excelled in the Bible courses offered there. Bob later earned his Bachelor’s Degree at Florence State University (now the University of North Alabama). The best education he obtained, however, was when he met Sandra Lee at Florida Christian College and was favorably impacted through the years by her and her family. They married on June 3, 1963, in Russellville Alabama and began their work together as Bob preached among the churches of Christ in Alabama at Newburg, York, Butler, Sumiton, Hartselle, Hanceville, Clay, and eventually Eastside in Athens. Bob and Sandra were blessed in their marriage with the addition of children, Laura and Ryan, and were wonderful parents to them and made many special memories together. Bob and Sandra early-on began collaborating on writing Bible study tracts and workbooks, including the History and Geography of the Bible Story and then a comprehensive series of Bible class books from Genesis to Revelation. All of these continue to be widely used, even internationally and in several languages, among congregations and in individual use. Bob was also a writer with the Guardian of Truth Commentaries series, completing very scholarly volumes on I & II Samuel and Nahum and beginning the task of I & II Kings. A joy for the Waldrons since their earliest married days was hosting aspiring young preachers in their home while they labored alongside Bob in local church work and Bible study. A good number of faithful preachers in the brotherhood today had their start with Bob and their ongoing fellowship with him and accompanying praise has always been appreciated. For many years, Bob also engaged in a busy schedule of Gospel meetings and singing schools with congregations across the country and also participated in extended Bible work in Brazil and what is now the Czech Republic. He enjoyed teaching Greek and Hebrew both in college classes at Athens State College and in informal groups and teaching fifth and sixth grade Bible classes as a faculty member at Athens Bible School. Bob was later able to join his special Christian brother, Leon Mauldin, in a tour of Israel and had the opportunity to flawlessly recite from memory the entire Sermon on the Mount for their travel group while they were assembled by the Sea of Galilee. The Waldrons moved to Florida in 2008 when Bob began working with the Trilacoochee Church of Christ. During this time, Bob continued traveling with Gospel meetings as well as participating in preacher training camps in north Alabama and upstate New York. Bob and Sandra enjoyed several good years in this work until her passing on September 4, 2011, and after a few more years Bob began reducing his preaching and writing schedule. The family is greatly comforted in the promise of salvation that God provides for His faithful, including Bob and Sandra. It is also most gratifying to know of the many souls that have profited though the years from their teaching and the widespread and continuing use of their Bible study publications and that this legacy will extend long into the future and even into eternity. Bob’s family includes children, Laura (Scott) Black and Ryan (Connie) Waldron; grandchildren, Reagan, Cassidy, and Madison Waldron and Haden Black; and beloved sister-in-law, Judy Moore; and a host of nephews and nieces. In addition to Sandra and his father and mother, Bob was also predeceased by his sister, Kathy Todd, and by Sandra's father and mother, Irven and Otha Lowe (Stubblefield) Lee. The family will host a visitation on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024, in the funeral home chapel. A procession will then travel to the Trilby Cemetery for interment. Special thanks are extended to the many church members and friends who have provided prayers and kind deeds and also to the staff members of Home Instead and Hernando Pasco Hospice for their service to the family. |
