Ron Halbrook was born in Indianola, MS in 1946, moved to Belle Glade, FL in 1951, and grew up and graduated from high school there. He preached for the Southside Church of Christ in Belle Glade in the summer of 1964. During his years at Florida College (1964-67), his preaching continued with the Central congregation near Live Oak, FL (fall 1965), the West Sixth St. church in Pine Bluff, AR (summer 1966), and the Hercules Ave. church in Clearwater, FL (1966-67). During 1967-73, Ron labored with the Wooley Springs church near Athens, AL, taught high school at Athens Bible School and finished a degree in history at Athens College (1969). He labored with the Broadmoor church in Nashville, TN 1973-78 (and completed a master’s degree in church history at Vanderbilt University, 1979), the Knollwood church in Xenia, OH 1978-82 (with Mike Willis in a two-preacher arrangement), the church in Midfield, AL 1982-84, and the West Columbia, TX church in 1984-97. In August of 1997, he began working in a two-preacher arrangement with Andy Alexander at the Hebron Lane Church of Christ in Shepherdsville, KY. Andy moved to Bowling Green, KY in 2003 and Steven Deaton took his place at Hebron Lane in June 2004, followed by David Dann in April 2017. This arrangement allows Ron to hold several gospel meetings and make four trips to the Philippines each year. He has made seventy-four trips to the Philippines since 1995 and also preached in New Zealand, Australia, England, and France. Ron’s articles have appeared in such religious journals as Truth Magazine, Searching the Scriptures, and The Preceptor. Other writing includes tracts (Unity With Christ and Christians; Honorable Marriage; The Original Church of Christ; Is Mark 16:15-16 Genuine Scripture?), booklets (Trends Pointing Toward a New Apostasy; Understanding the Controversy, The Authority of Christ), workbooks (Leadership in the Church), and books (The Doctrine of Christ and Unity of the Saints; Halbrook-Freeman Debate on Marriage, Divorce, & Remarriage). Ron has served on the staff of Truth Magazine since 1974 and the board of Truth Publications since 1977. Ron married Donna Bell in 1967. They have three children: Jonathan (married Tanya Bryant; children: Payton, Cole, Paige, Abbie), David (married Starla Page; children: Joel, Esther, Eliel), and Deborah (married Jamie Williams; children: Timothy, Seth, Arabelle).
