Robert F. Harkrider was born on February 4, 1939 and began studying to preach the gospel while in high school. Upon graduating with a bachelor of science degree from Stephen F. Austin University, Robert and his wife, Arline Cope Thorp moved to work three years each with the churches in Pinson, AL and Hueytown, AL, and then to Sydney, N.S.W. Australia for two and a half years. He returned to the U.S. in 1969 to work five years with the East Florence church in Alabama. In 1974, he moved to Houston, TX to work with the Spring Branch church. In 1977, he moved to Nacogdoches, the city of his youth, to work nine years with the Mound and Starr congregation. In 1986, he moved to Orlando, FL and worked with the South Bumby church thirty-one years. In addition to his commentary on Revelation, Robert has published thirty workbooks that include both topical studies as well as a minicommentary on all of the Old Testament books of prophecy and all the books of the New Testament. The complete series of Discovering God’s Way Bible class literature was developed and edited by Robert and Arline.
