Posted on Jun. 19, 2019

Bette (Ashworth) Wolfgang was born and raised near Nashville, in Franklin, TN. Her father, W.C. (“Billy”) Ashworth, preached the gospel for fifty years until his death in 2000, and her uncle, Dorris Rader, and cousin, Donnie Rader, both are gospel preachers. Bette met Steve Wolfgang at Florida College in 1967. Married in 1969, they have been committed life partners, lovers, best friends, and fellow Christians ever since. They have two adult daughters, Lesley (married to Clay Jackson) and Lindsay (married to David Mast). All are active Christians. Steve and Bette have three grandchildren. Bette graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University, and taught senior English at Forest Park High School in Atlanta before “retiring” to a life as full-time mother. With the children in school, she returned to graduate school at the University of Kentucky and obtained her graduate degree and board certification in Counseling Psychology. After working several years in the Behavioral Health Unit at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center and a community mental health agency, she was in private practice with a psychiatrist, and until retirement maintained a busy solo private practice. In her practice, she often worked with Christians and others referred by physicians, ministers, and former clients. Since age fourteen, Bette has taught Bible classes for women and children. She and Steve now live in suburban Chicago, where they work with the church in Downers Grove. She and Steve have conducted marriage seminars in churches and other venues in many locations in the US and in Australia. In addition to continuing this work, she also consults with Christians regarding mental health and marriage and family issues.

Bette will have the topic "Overcoming Depression" at the 11am Women's Track on June 26, 2019 on the new Athens Bible School campus in Athens, AL.
