"Therefore, be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham" (Galatians 3:7). In Genesis 15:5, God said to Abraham, “Now look toward the heavens, and count the stars, if you are able to count them…So shall your descendants be.” Despite being childless and advanced in age, Abraham “believed in the Lord; and He reckoned it to him as righteousness” (Genesis 15:6). Just as Abraham was justified by his faith in God and his faithful obedience to God’s word (James 2:21-23), so also Christians are justified by faith in Christ Jesus (Romans 5:1). It is this thread of faith and the promise of God that ties all Christians to Abraham, for “if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise” (Galatians 3:29). These things are carefully considered in this study book as we examine the life of Abraham and the faith that made him our father. Abraham, Our Father in the Faith is the second book of this series focusing on Genesis. This book is useful as an aid for both group and individual Bible studies. The other books in this series are: Before Abraham Was (Genesis 1-11 & Job) and From Promises to Providence (Genesis 25-50).
